Manaslu Region is considered one of the isolated areas in Nepal for challenging mountain and trekking expeditions. Opened in 1992, this region is topographically spectacular and culturally fantastic. The upper part of Manaslu region is highly influenced by Buddhist culture and religion.  The views of Mount Manaslu and other neighbouring peaks are spectacular from Larkya La Pass. Much of areas in Manaslu Region  is wild and least trodden. During the expedition trip we follow the Burigandaki valley trail  passing through green valleys, green forests, ancient villages and  Buddhist monasteries that  lie scattered all along the trails. We reserve our first acclimatization day at 4600 metres before we head up to Manaslu Base Camp at 4750 m altitude.

The inhabitants of Upper Budhi Gandaki area are called Nupri, who are direct descendants from Tibet long time back.. We ascend the Gandaki River valley and walk through rocky landscape. In Samagoan (3450m) we visit the glacial green lake of Birendra, before crossing over Samdo, close to Nepal Tibet border. Here, we find Buddhist monasteries with Tibetan monks engaged in religious practices.

The biggest challenge is to cross the snow bound Larkya La pass (5213m). Then, we walk down through tropical areas, bursting with ferns, bamboo, pine trees, waterfalls and aqua-blue green lakes laced with cotton-white beaches. We fix  our Manaslu Expedition Camp 1 at 5700 meters beneath  the North Peak but just  above the glacier on a protected area.
