Kathmandu valley rim gives a good choice for mountain biking tour in Nepal. You will ride out on the valley rim to explore traditional Newari villages, monasteries, temples, national park and experience the daily chores of local Nepalese people in the villages.
Within a couple of hours of riding, you will reach the high points of the rim to view spectacular Himalayan mountain range. From Nagarkot and Chisapani the views of Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Annapurna and Everest are breathtakingly fantastic.
After leaving Kathmandu city, you will start your biking journey on a busy traffic trail before heading to Kakani and stay overnight at a local lodge. Next day you will continue your bicycle tour following the trail the rocky uphill ascent before riding on a smooth trail passing through Mulkharka and Chisapani villages. During the ride, you will enjoy some of the best scenic views that include the towering high mountains and the beautiful Kathmandu valley. Leaving Chisapani you make the downhill ride all the way towards Nagarkot. After arriving at this lovely place you will visit the view tower of Nagarkot and enjoy the sunset view and Himalayan panorama. From Nagarkot, you will continue your journey making downhill ride towards Dhulikhel. After spending one night in Dhulikhel, you will ride along the dirt trail leading to the Buddhist temple of Namobuddha. From Namobuddha you can have great views of mountain ranges that lie between Ganesh Himal and Everest. With mostly downhill riding from Namobuddha you will make a journey towards Balthali village where you will experience the culture and tradition of the local village and its surrounding areas. Leaving Balthali you will again follow a dirt trail to Panauti town and then make a gradual uphill climb towards Lakhure Bhanjyang. From there you will ride mostly downhill to Lubhu and then towards the Botanical Garden of Godawari. During your mountain biking journey you will follow the cultural village trails and explore some of the oldest towns of Kathmandu valley Kathmandu Valley Biking Tour with Trek Himalayan ends with a scenic ride back to Kathmandu city.
This is a unique experience you will ever enjoy. It will be a great fun and lifetime experience for both serious and recreational riders.
Upon your arrival in the Kathmandu airport, you will be received by Trek Himalayan representative and
transferred to hotel. After check in, you can either take a rest or hang around in the city depending on your
interest and time constraint. In the evening, there will be a pre-trip discussion, introducing with your biking
guide. You will have an opportunity to ask any questions related to the biking program. Overnight in hotel
Today we will arrange guided sightseeing tour on the mountain bike visiting Pashupatinath, the biggest
Hindu shrine, Boudhanath, the largest Buddhist stupa and Swayambhunath, the monkey temple. Your guide
will help you organizing everything during the tour. Overnight in hotel
After breakfast we begin our biking tour to Kakani. We follow a Zigzag road westward for at least 20 km
uphill and about 2 km further east along the ridge with some technical ride. You will enter into Shivapuri
National Park which offers wilderness-style riding under a beautiful canopy of trees and viewing
spectacular Himalayan mountain range. Overnight at lodge
From Kakani we will proceed to south east along undulating dirt trails and through traditional villages up
to Mulkharka. It is a beautiful village with snowy mountains gleaming to the north in the horizon. If you
get up early in the morning, you will not miss the sunrise view over the towering peaks and steep slope of
the Himalayan Mountains. In Mulkharka village you can meet and interact with locals. You can also visit
the nearby reservoir of Bagmati River to watch a variety of birds. Overnight at lodge
After breakfast we continue our mountain biking tour to Chisopani, another beautiful village rewarded with
natural treasures. From this village you can also witness the captivating sunrise and sunset views over the
vast expanse of the Himalayan mountain range.
We set off for another popular destination- Nagarkot. It is the only place nearby Bhaktapur and
Kathmandu to enjoy closer and fantastic view of the Himalaya from the hilltop. Looking north, we see the
Himalayan peaks of Dorje Lakpa and Phubi Chyanchu and further east is the range of Chobha Bamare,
the twin-peaked summits of Gaurishankar and Numbur.
Today we wake up early morning to observe sunrise views over the Himalayas and have breakfast in
Nagarkot. Then, we ride downhill leaving Nagarkot top to Dhulikhel, a Newari town. En route we pass
through some interesting some villages. Then we head for Dhulikhel on a dirt trail climbing and descending
small hilltop before reaching our ultimate destination for overnight stay in hotel.
After breakfast we ride to the holy Buddhist site of Namo Buddha. According to legend it was here that
Buddha, in a previous incarnation, fed his flesh to a hungry tigress as an offering. A stone statue marks
the site; there you will find a monastery on top of the hill. We follow the picturesque view along the dirt
roads to Balthali where we spend a night at resort.
Today we ride through Lakuri Bhanjyang enjoying the views of Langtang Lirung, Mt Gaurishankar, and
Rolwaling ranges. In the late evening we reach a typical Nepali village called Balthali. Here you will
witness a pastoral lifestyle of the people engaging in farming, and animal husbandry. Overnight at resort
On this pleasant day you may have a full day at leisure either relax at hotel or explore the around Thamel.
Or, you may do your last minute shopping for souvenirs or gift to your family, friends or relatives.
Our airport representative will come to pick you up and transfer you to the International Airport according
to your flight time
