Sarangkot Australian Camp Dhampus Trek is one of the short and popular cultural treks in the Annapurna Region. This trek takes you through beautiful villages inhabited by mid-hill tribes called Gurungs, many of them are in Gurkha regiments working for British and Indian armies and some are engaged in agricultural farming. While on trek you will enjoy close up view of Mount Machhapuchhre ( Fishtail) and Pokhara Valley including Phewa Lake from the top of Sarangkot hill. You can see also Mount Dhaulagiri and Mount Hiunchuli in the far west. The whole of Annapurna Himalayan range is visible in a good weather.
Sarangkot (1592m) lies approximately 5 km from Lake Side in Pokhara. Sarangkot is popular as the highest viewpoint for sunrise and it is easily reachable to the hill top by land transport. . Many tourists visit Sarangkot for sunrise view and return to Pokhara after few hours stay. Paragliding from Sarangkot can be a truly wonderful experience for the adventure enthusiasts. You fly in the sky at least 30 to 45 minute flight sharing space with griffin vultures, eagles, and float over tiny villages, monasteries, lakes and jungle experiencing a spectacular view of the Himalayan Mountain Range. There is no doubt that paragliding provides anyone thrilling experience with plenty of photographic opportunities.
In one day stay in Pokhara you can do a short day hike to Sarangkot and Dhampus. After Sarangkot you will head for Dhampus village through ethnic villages, rice field terraces and sparse woods. Having enjoyed face to face view of a long Himalayan Mountain range of Annapurna and other peaks you will reach Dhampus in 3-4 hours. You will enjoy the wonderful sunset view on the Himalayas in the evening and sunrise the next morning, the natural scenery that you observe from Sarangkot and Dhampus will be a lifetime experience. After one night stay at Dhampus village you will walk back downhill through scenic route and then board a vehicle for Pokhara.
It is an easy but rewarding trek in the middle hills of Nepal. We walk through farm terraces and short stretch of woods of rhododendron to Dhumpus village. A close up view of a long range of Annapurna and other mountains greet us while trekking along the trail to Dhampus. We enjoy the amazing sunsets on the Himalayas in the evening and sunrise (next morning) from Sarangkot Next day we walk back down hill through a scenic route and catch a vehicle to Pokhara.
Arrive at the Tribhuwan International Airport where you will be welcomed by Trek Himalayan representative and transferred to your Pre-booked hotel. The rest of the afternoon is free until evening when you’ll enjoy a welcome drinks with your guide and introduce each other.
Overnight in Kathmandu
Your guide will meet you at your hotel in the morning to begin your city tour of Kathmandu. You will visit the Boudhanath temple, the largest Buddhist stupa in Nepal, Pashupatinath, a Hindu pilgrimage site, and possibly view cremation ceremonies along the banks of the Bagmati River and continue drive to Patan Durbar Square to take in ancient Nepalese architecture and end your tour after a lunch. Then, you will visit the Patan museum. Overnight in Kathmandu.
If you drive, it takes about 6 to 7 hour to reach Pokhara and if you fly, it takes 25 minutes. As soon as you reach Pokhara you will be transferred to Hotel.
Pokhara is situated in the mid western Nepal. It is linked by the main highway of 200 km driving distance from Kathmandu, and by air approximately 20 to 30 minutes flight with a sweeping panoramic view of the mid western Himalaya. Mother Nature has certainly blessed this fertile valley with outstanding scenery of the landscapes, snow capped mountains, moderate tropical climate, and beautiful pristine lakes of Begnas, Rupa and Phewa. The most stunning of Pokhara’s sights is the magnificent panorama of the Annapurna range which forms its backdrop. Annapurna massif includes Annapurna I to IV and Annapurna South. Among these high peaks it
is the towering majestic Mt. Machhapuchare (Fish Tail) which dominates all others in this range Pokhara with its natural beauty is also a starting point of trekking, mountaineering expeditions and it’s an ideal spot for all types of holiday makers.
We will drive to Sarangkot early in the morning and then see sunrise there. After sunrise you can have your breakfast and then start your trek to Dhampus. In the middle of the way at Naudada you will stop for lunch. After lunch we will continue our trek to Dhampus and stay overnight at lodge.
Today after breakfast our trek begins. We gently walk down to Phedi. The trail is easy and short. When we reach Phedi we will be transported to Pokhara by our private vehicle.
Pokhara is certainly a great spot to relax after the trek. You can spend your day in Pokhara as you like, you can either relax in your hotel or do sightseeing.
We drive back to Kathmandu through the endless terraces of lowland Nepal, the six hour drive get back us to the buzz and bustle of Kathmandu. Overnight in Kathmandu
Today as per your international flight time, our staff will come to pick you up at the hotel and
transfer you to the international airport for your final departure.
