Overview

This is the easy and relaxing mountain biking tour around the hills of Kathmandu valley. This fascination bicycle ride takes you to rarely visited rural areas of Nepal and is perfect for those looking to combine the fun and ‘Soft’ adventure through the lower hills with spectacular views of Kathmandu valley and Himalayan Mountains in the distance.

You will cycle at your own pace on peaceful country trails with frequent stops at the very popular historical and medieval places of Bhaktapur and Patan and beautiful villages of  Chisopani and  Bhungamati for your meals and overnight stay. This is the only way to explore the rural Nepal. During the cycling tour, you will also have an opportunity to interact with the local people, visit the historical shrines and experience the lifestyle and cultural aspects of people. En-route you will visit the medieval city of Bhaktapur and Patan and their surrounding areas.

From Nagarkot, you will see great views of Himalayan Mountains that includes Mt. Everest, Mt. Annapurna, Mt. Manaslu, Mt. Langtang, and Mt. Ganesh Himal. Cycling uphill and downhill gives you a thrilling experience of a lifetime.

You will stop by Hattiban Resort for lunch. This resort is located in the natural setting amidst the forest providing guests a secluded hideaway from their hectic city life. In the resort, you will spend a couple of hours and then proceed to Dakshinkali Temple. It is a popular Hindu pilgrimage site situated at the confluence of two sacred streams in a rocky cleft in the forest.This temple is dedicated to the goddess Kali. At Dakshinkali your mountain biking tour comes to an end and next day you will be transferred to Kathmandu in our private vehicle. Soft Bike Tour is a fun-filled trip and suitable to every mountain biker of any age group.

Itinerary:

  • Arrive at the Tribhuwan International Airport where you will be welcomed by Trek Himalayan representative and transferred to hotel. The rest of the afternoon is free until evening when you’ll enjoy a welcome drinks with your mountain biking guide and introduce each other. Overnight in Kathmandu

  • After breakfast you will drive from Kathmandu to Sundarijal and then slowly climb up the hill on the bike through mixed forest and Mulkharka village up to Chisopani. If weather permits, you can enjoy good views of Himalayan mountain range from east to west from the hilltop and Kathmandu valley.

  • An interesting country trail takes you further uphill to Nagarkot, perched on a ridge 32 km east of Kathmandu. It offers sweeping views of the Himalayas which include five of the world’s ten highest peaks, Everest, Lhotse, Cho Oyu, Makalu and Manaslu. This hill resort is also a popular spot to watch sunrise and sunset. From the tower you can also enjoy view of Kathmandu valley.

  • After enjoying sunrise view and breakfast in the morning you will ride an awesome downhill trail through scenic single track until you reach Bhaktapur, one of the oldest cities in the Kathmandu Valley. Stay overnight within the city, with plenty of time to explore some part of the ancient city and temples.

  • After morning riding around the Bhaktapur city which includes Potters Square and some of the famous temples, you will cycle to Patan Darbar Square. Having lunch in Patan you will head for Bhungamati, an ancient Newari Village founded in the 7th century AD. Here, you will visit ancient temples, monasteries, stupas, ponds and observe local festivals. The local people of this village are engaged in traditional wood carving, farming and tourism.

  • Leaving Bhungamati you will ride through narrow trails, beautiful green terraces and reach Dakshinkali where one of the well-known Hindu temples devoted to the Goddess Kali is situated. After lunch you will continue cycling to Hattiban Resort for overnight stay.

  • On this pleasant day you may have a full day at leisure either relax at hotel or explore the around Thamel. Or, you may do your last minute shopping for souvenirs or gift to your family, friends or relatives. Followed by traditional farewell dinner.

  • Our airport representative will come to pick you up and transfer you to the International Airport according to your flight time
