Mt. Shishapangama (8,130m) is the 14th highest mountain in the world. It is located in south-central Tibet, only a few kilometers away from the Nepal- Tibet ( Kodari) border. It is ideal for those who are interested to climb the straightforward 8000m peak via the North-West Ridge from Tibet side. Since it is on the dry north side of the Himalayan crest and further away from the lower terrain of Nepal, it is less risky and technically less demanding than most other major Himalayan peaks. Similar to Everest’s north side, the motorable road is accessible to the base camp of Mt. Shishapangama and then the actual trail on foot and yak begins.
It is a comparatively easy route with an access by land transport up to base camp at 5,000 m. Then we use yaks transport to carry expedition equipment from Base camp to Advanced Base Camp at 5,400m and then further three camps where we fix ropes before we summit Shishapangma peak. The route to southwest face is steeper and technically more challenging and involves 2,250 meters ascent.
Climbing skills & good physical fitness is required for Shishapangma summit attempt. Spring & summer season is the best time for Mount Shishapangma expedition. However, Trek Himalayan arranges climbing expedition to Mount Shishapangma throughout the year as per interest and vacation schedule of the prospective climbers. We can arrange both the logistic support to Advanced Base Camp and fully guided climbing for Shishapangma expedition. For more details, please contact us at info@ trekhimalayan.com.np
